Zwade Devenish was born Raheem Zwade Devenish, in Trinidad & Tobago. Zwade credits his early interest in fashion to his mother, a professionally trained seamstress who owned her own boutique in Trinidad where she made custom garments for local woman. In fact, some of Zwade's earlists memories are of him hanging out in his mother's studio with her clients, observing the creative process unfold. At the age of 8, Zwade moved with his family from Trinidad to Brooklyn, where his continued exposure to his mother's trade collided with the cacophony and diversity of day to day life in New York. It is a combination of all of these experiences that brings Zwade to where he is today, and have imprinted in him a distinct appreciation for movement, texture and pattern in fabric, evident in his work today.
Zwade designs for a sophisticated girl with an edge. She's a woman that is comfortable in her clothing, but confident in her skin. She is proud of her femininity and fluid in her ability to navigate social settings.
Zwade counts among his influences music, art, and fashion, to the people he rubs elbows with every day on the streets of New York.
Prior to debuting his self-titled line, Zwade interned at ROC NATION Headquarters, for the Design Team at Pharrell Williams and Jay-Z's Billionaire Boys Club, Zwade also worked as the Pattern Maker and Wardrobe Director on Kanye West's 2014 Adidas, Yezzy Season 1, and has most recently worked as an independent Designer.
